I’ll get to my warning about COS, but first some other thoughts (and you can always scroll down if you wish - go to Christian Gomez’ essay at the bottom):
It’s been awhile folks, so a collection of ramblings. I’ve been tempted to do several columns (since leaving off in July for book work) in the face of the insanity as propagated by our present Administration, but… where to start? I could well-start with the fact that I am now an “enemy of the state.” I had no idea; I don’t even know how it happened. I don’t know that I’d describe myself as a “MAGA-Republican,” a “Trumpie,” an “Extremist,” or a “Domestic Terrorist” (all recent terms deployed by Joe Biden in describing Trump-voters and supporters), but I did vote for Trump twice. [Note: Name-calling is childish and a sign of senility - a reversion to childhood; same for Biden’s tough-guy “behind the gym and beat the hell out of him” comment. Imagine: a President who makes High School references in application to opponents, and who calls solid citizens “Trumpies.” At age 79, isn’t it time to grow up? LOL: never happened; never will].
I kinda believed back then that I’d like clean streets, low crime, reasonable gas prices, energy independence, low taxes, a balanced budget, a diminishing debt, strong borders, legal immigration, a secure America, exposure of Covid and climate BS, NATO countries paying their contracted fair share (for their own defense), kids who could learn Readin’, ‘Ritin’, ‘Rithmetic in the early grades, and STEM (Science; Technology; Engineering; Math) in the later grades absent near-100% carve-outs for CRT and drag/sex shows, and I kinda coulda used brakes on a constant blare of LGBTQXYZWTFLOLICYMIWEF+. It’s like driving: You approach me, you turn your brights down. Stop trumpeting your genderrr, your sexxx, your identity, and do something manifest. NOTE: I am not a Christian Conservative (or a Christian of any sort); I’m more of a Bohemian Libertarian - possessed of plain sense and sanity. There. Frankly, I think that makes my criticisms and commentary more legit - I don’t have a “religious agenda,” in other words.
I kinda stopped believing in a big Santa Clause in the sky - of any sort - back around age 5. And I believe adults should be free to do what they like, to include belief in God, god, Gods, gods… unicorns, fairies, voodoo, Covid drugs (they can do it to themselves; not others), to include attendance at sex shows in private clubs, dressing in drag, and believing whatever rancid racist theories they are stupid enough to indulge in. Wreck yourself. Just don’t wreck children before they even know what sex or gender is, or upon entering puberty when everything is confusing enough. Concentrate on the Rs and STEM, learn to play a musical instrument, play a sport (stick to biological-sex-based teams) and read some books. After that, later in life, if you feel a sense of accomplishment with each new tattoo and through the application of three-inch eyelashes, so be it. (I do kinda believe in Karma, I meditate, and I pray to “Ancestors and Entities Favorable to Me.” That’s good enough for me and that’s all that counts in this household).
Yet, as someone who (in the course of four decades) recently (June 2022) passed his 4th FBI background check (count ‘em - four), who served his country with highest distinctions in the U.S. Army for 12 years (incurring injury along the way), who possesses two college degrees (with no student debt - now or ever), is a retired professional man, is the author of an MBA-business-IT text, who has no criminal record, is still in possession of a Top Secret (inactive) security clearance (reactivated after 17 years for T.S. work in D.C. back in ‘07; and reactivatable any time), and someone for whom Joe Biden is supposed to work for… I am merely ~
~ a MAGA-Republican-Trumpie-Domestic Terrorist-Extremist.
Well.
As to general liabilities regarding a CONVENTION OF STATES, it is interesting to consider the following extract:
~ from the essay, Article V Convention Threatens Liberty, by Christian Gomez ~
Imagine both political parties attending the same national convention, at the same time, with progressive insiders controlling credentials, rules, issues committees, and voting procedures.
Participants would include not just conservative Republicans, but Democrats, RINOs, socialists, Green New Dealers, Supreme Court packers, gun controllers, police de-funders, big spenders, Roe v. Wade codifiers, teacher unions, Anthony Fauci fans, Electoral College critics, race-obsessed wokesters, social justice warriors, and peaceniks who would balance the federal budget by disbanding the Department of Defense.
What sort of constitution would emerge from delegates who are Anthony Fauci fans, COVID-19 vaxxers, mask mandaters, wokesters, and other progressives and swampy RINOs from the Administrative State? An Article V convention is not the mechanism to take back and rein in our federal government, it’s the principal vehicle to hijack and irrevocably destroy our Republic. Liberty would doubtlessly [not] survive an Article V Constitutional Convention; it would be the first target of the Administrative State seeking to permanently consolidate its current unconstitutional powers.
Simply put, as Justice Scalia warned before a gathering of the Federalist Society, in Morristown, New Jersey, on May 8, 2015, “A constitutional convention is a horrible idea,” adding, “This is not a good century to write a constitution.” Scalia is correct: this is not a good century to write a constitution, nor is it a good century to amend it, especially via a mechanism as risky as an Article V Constitutional Convention.
DS - Hear, hear. Next up in the coming days: My experience in attempting to remove my “support” status from COS, as experienced from the COS org itself. This recent experience was instigated by their outreach to me asking for some volunteer work. Watch for that in the next few days.
NP: Have a little of this: Lonesome Train, Ray Davies
How many “new COS friends” do you have now?
